Ali Raza Emerging Player to watch out for this season

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 has returned for its historic 10th season, and this time there has been a significant shuffle among the teams during the PSL Draft. With many young and uncapped players showing remarkable potential, here are five players to watch this season.

Saad Masood - Islamabad United

Saad Masood is a genuine leg-spinner who also brings batting depth to the squad with his all-round abilities. At just 20 years old, he could be a key spinner for Islamabad United this season. He made his debut for Peshawar Zalmi in 2023, but it was a year to forget for him as he struggled for consistent opportunities and proved to be expensive. However, this season may be different; he has improved his batting in the Champions T20 domestic competition, scoring at a rate of over 145 as a lower-order batter. If given the chance, Saad Masood could emerge as a standout player this season.

Ali Raza - Peshawar Zalmi

When Ian Bishop praises a youngster, it’s clear that the player has made a significant impression. In the PSL, that player is Ali Raza, a 17-year-old fast bowler who was Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker in the U19 World Cup, claiming 9 wickets in 3 matches, including an impressive 4 for 34 in the semi-finals. He also performed well in domestic competitions and has now been picked by Peshawar Zalmi. If he gets consistent chances, he could learn and grow alongside experienced players like Luke Wood and Alzaari Joseph this season. Keep an eye out for Ali Raza.

Mohammed Zeeshan - Quetta Gladiators

Mohammed Zeeshan is a tall, lanky bowler who hits the deck hard, reminiscent of former Pakistan pacer Mohammed Irfan. He was part of the Pakistan U19 team alongside Ali Raza, where he took 6 wickets in 5 matches, with his best performance occurring at the U19 Asia Cup, where he took 6 wickets for just 19 runs against Nepal. Having already played 3 matches in the PSL, he is set to be an important bowler for the Quetta Gladiators this season.

Maaz Sadhaqat - Peshawar Zalmi

The only top-order batter on this list, Maaz Sadhaqat, is known for his traditional batting technique, similar to Babar Azam's in terms of building innings. He showcased excellent form in T20 competitions, averaging nearly 30 and striking at a rate of 131, making him the fifth-highest run-scorer in the Champions T20 tournament. Additionally, he offers part-time spin, which could earn him a spot in the Zalmi starting lineup. Watch for Maaz Sadhaqat this PSL 2025
