In a bid to complete a full 20-over match in case of rain delays, the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season remaining matches will have 120 extra minutes in the nine league matches set to be played. In general, only two hours of extra time allowance is part of the playing conditions for the playoffs only.
However, with the IPL 2025 season resuming after a one-week suspension and with the monsoon threat looming large in India, the IPL has concluded to ensure the game is not shortened. Eight of the nine games is scheduled to be played in the evening, barring the GT vs CSK game, which will be played in the afternoon. As per the playing conditions, the scheduled completion time for the evening match is 10:50 PM and 6:50 for an afternoon game.

IPL wants rain not to play spoilsport
With 120 minutes extra time, now, a full game 20-over match can start at 5:30 PM (afternoon game), 9:30 PM (evening game). For a minimum five-overs game, the cut-off time for afternoon game is 7:56 PM, and 11:56 PM for an evening match. Three IPL 2025 games have been abandoned due to rain, wit both teams sharing a point each PBKS vs KKR in Kolkata was the first game in this season abandoned due to rain.

SRH vs DC match in Hyderabad was the second game washed away due to rain, and RCB vs KKR game was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
