GT vs RR IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals opted to bowl first; Jofra Archer dismissed Shubman Gill early, while Sai Sudharshan and Jos Buttler shined for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to put Gujarat Titans in to bat first on their home ground. This decision led to Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharshan walking out to open the innings. Jofra Archer was given the new ball, and the Titans started decently with a 7-run over, during which Sai Sudharshan hit a boundary. Fazalhaq Farooqi was included in the playing XI for this match, and he bowled the second over. He managed to get some swing with the new ball as Gujarat Titans maintained a defensive stance, adding another 7 runs.

Jofra Archer continued his attack and dismissed Shubman Gill, clean-bowled, with a beautiful delivery. Gill misjudged the ball entirely and departed for just 2 runs off 3 balls. Jos Buttler then joined Sai Sudharshan in the middle.

Despite the early loss of Shubman Gill, both batters performed well in the remaining overs, reaching 56 runs for 1 wicket by the end of the powerplay. Tushar Despande conceded 18 runs in his first over during the powerplay, while Sai Sudharshan was the more aggressive of the two, timing and placing the ball effectively as Gujarat Titans made a strong start.

Sanju Samson continued with his pace bowling options, allowing Fazalhaq Farooqi to bowl the 7th over. However, this proved unproductive as Buttler secured a few boundaries, ramping up the scoring.

Samson then brought in his spinners, introducing Maheesh Theekshana for the first time. However, the GT batters, having found their rhythm, took 14 runs off him, with Buttler hitting two fours in that over. At this point, Gujarat Titans stood at 81 runs for 1 wicket after 8 overs, prompting a timeout for the Rajasthan Royals camp to regroup.

Tushar Despande returned to the attack following his expensive first over. Despite the earlier setback, he delivered tight lines and lengths, conceding only 7 runs and no boundaries in the 8th over. Theekshana continued his spell, and Sai Sudharshan finally hit his first four since the powerplay, reaching his third fifty of the season in the process. The crowd applauded as he celebrated this milestone with complete control.

Maheesh Theekshana made a comeback and, with one ball remaining in the 10th over, dismissed Jos Buttler. Though the umpire initially denied the LBW appeal, a review showed three greens, leading to the decision being overturned. Jos Buttler was out for 36 runs off 25 balls, leaving Gujarat Titans at 94 runs for 2 wickets at the end of 10 overs.
