Rain Threat Reason Behind BCCI Not Confirming Ahmedabad As Venue For IPL 2025 Final - Reports

IPL 025 Final likely to be played in Ahmedabad

The BCCI has confirmed that the IPL 2025 will resume on May 17 and the final will be played on May 3. However, the BCCI is yet to finalise the venues for the IPL 2025 playoffs and the final.

The remaining IPL 2025 season will be played across six venues as compared to just four previously informed by the board. Mumbai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur will be hosting the remaining league games.

Previously, it was reported that BCCI is considering four venues, namely, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru for the completion of the season. However, fresh reports as per Cricbuzz hints that the BCCI is considering Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium as the venue for the Qualifier 2 and the final on June 1 and 3, respectively.

However, with board might consider changing the venue if rain threat looms large when the time comes. One of the reasons why the BCCI decided to remove the final from Kolkata is the arrival of the monsoon season in West Bengal.  The board is closely monitoring the movement of the monsoon season. As per reports, it is unlikely to rain in Ahmedabad in early June.

Meanwhile, Mumbai remains the shortlisted venue for Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator. However, the board is yet to confirm the same given the preset of monsoon in the state of Maharashtra. With the city experiencing heavy rainfall in the recent past, the BCCI is playing the waiting game before finalisng the venue.

Cricbuzz further reported that BCCI is open to hosting the Eliminator and the Qualifier 2 in the capital city of Delhi or even Jaipur or Lucknow if there is no rain threat in these cities.
