The Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) has been handed a major setback. The reason? Star players are opting out of the league. Australian star batter and keeper Alex Carey has officially withdrawn himself from the 10th edition of the tournament.
On the other hand, star New Zealand batter Kane Williamson too will be missing a couple of the opening games of the league. The Kiwi star is currently in the commentary panel in IPL 2025. Kane was picked by Karachi Kings after the star batter found himself with no takers in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Islamabad United announced that Alex Carey has withdrawn himself from PSL 2025, citing domestic commitments.

South African star Rassie van der Dussen is slated to join the side as a replacement for Alex Carey. Fans have been left bewildered as to why the Australian keeper-batter has pulled him from the league and there are no domestic tournaments happening in Australia.
The Big Bash League (BBL) as well as the Australian One-Day tournament have already concluded earlier. Meanwhile, apart from Carey, there are also quite a few international stars who have ditched the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025). Corbin Bosch ditched Peshawar Zalmi and joined Mumbai Indians. This resulted in the South African all-rounder being handed a one-year ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
