Prithvi Shaw on Tuesday was given the NOC by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to let him join another domestic team after he fell out of favour for his previous team Mumbai.
Shaw also wrote an open letter to the MCA requesting them to allow him to join a new domestic team after had offers from a few other teams. He fell out of favour from the Mumbai team for reasons of his fitness and fielding standards.
It is now being reported that Prithvi Shaw is likely to play for Maharashtra. If indeed that is the case, he will be playing alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad who will lead him. Gaikwad is also leading the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Both Shaw and Gaikwad are currently not a part of the Indian and hence has a good chance to forge a good opening partnership.

Prithvi Shaw Part Ways With Mumbai
Previously, MCA secretary Abhay Hadap confirmed to Hindustan Times that Prithvi Shaw is indeed looking to move out of Mumbai.Â
"Yes, Prithvi Shaw has written a letter to us, seeking a No-Objection Certificate. We are just discussing it with the Apex Council members. We will make our decision by today evening," MCA secretary Abhay Hadap confirmed to Hindustan Times.
Shaw made his international debut for India in 2018 and scored a century on his Test debut against West Indies. He last played international cricket for India in the 2021 Australia Test series. Shaw featured in five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20 International for India. He went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction as none of the eight teams wanted to bid for him.
Shaw Needs To Make It Big For Maharashtra
If he eventually plays for Maharashtra, he will have to score heavily in domestic cricket to make his return into the Indian team across formats with India's batting future looking decently beautiful.
