Nitish Rana DC vs RR

The upcoming season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2025) auction is a few days away. However, ahead of the mega auction, Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Nitish Rana will not be part of the T20 league as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unique policy will not make the southpaw part of this season's DPL 2025 season.

The RR batter recently returned to play for his state side, Delhi, after spending two seasons with the Uttar Pradesh (UP) team. Despite the southpaw getting permission to return to Delhi from UP, BCCI's guidelines say that a player has to wait for one year before participating in the local T20 leagues. This waiting period is called as 'cooling-off period.' The southpaw was last seen playing UP T20 League.

He is yet to complete the stipulated 12-month cooling-off period, which means he cannot take part in this year's DPL 2025 season.

A BCCI source confirmed to Cricblogger, “Unfortunately, the 12-month cooling-off rule does not allow Rana to participate in the DPL this season. He has taken a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from UP and is eligible to represent Delhi officially, but he can only play the DPL next year.”

Delhi’s cricket association yet to receive Nitish Rana's official NOC document

For the unversed, Rana moved from Delhi to UP in search of improving his cricket career in Test matches. The RR batter also captained UP, but he did not have great success in the two white-ball formats. Recently, the all-rounder decided to reunite with his stateside Delhi and also got a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from UP, which is mandatory for such moves.
