Mukesh Kumar Struck 4 Wickets against LSG

The Lucknow Super Giants had a fantastic start to their innings, scoring 87 runs for the loss of just one wicket in the first 10 overs. However, they quickly fell behind due to some exceptional bowling from the Delhi Capitals.

Following the dismissal of Aiden Markram, Mitchell Starc took out the dangerous Nicholas Pooran, who dragged a deceptive short delivery onto his stumps. The wicket-taking spree continued as Mukesh Kumar claimed two more scalps in his over, dismissing the well-set Mitchell Marsh and the struggling Abdul Samad.

LSG's Collapse

From a strong position of 87 for 1, LSG found themselves reduced to 110 for 4 at the end of 14 overs, managing only 28 runs while losing 4 wickets in the last 5 overs before the break.

After the break, Ayush Badoni joined David Miller with 6 overs remaining. Both batters looked to find gaps to settle into their innings. The pitch had become slower, making it difficult for the batters to time the ball, especially against the pace bowlers’ cutters. With Rishabh Pant still in the pavilion, Badoni and Miller aimed to build a partnership. By the end of the 16th over, the score was 124 for 4 with 4 overs left.

Kuldeep Yadav returned to bowl his final over, during which he didn't concede any boundaries, keeping LSG searching for runs. Axar Patel turned to his pace bowlers to finish the remaining overs. Chameera kept them quiet once again, as Badoni managed to find only one boundary in that over. With hints of reverse swing, the Delhi Capitals bowlers bowled fuller lengths, which troubled Badoni and Miller in timing their shots.

As the boundaries dried up, Ayush Badoni went for an unorthodox shot against Mitchell Starc and managed to hit a boundary. However, once again, the over ended with only one four as Starc completed his spell, leaving LSG at 147 for 4 with 6 balls remaining in the innings.

Mukesh Kumar's Four Wicket Haul

Mukesh Kumar, who had a fantastic spell, returned to bowl the last over. Ayush Badoni started brightly, hitting three consecutive fours as Mukesh missed his yorker length on those deliveries. However, he then found the perfect length to clean bowl Badoni with the next ball. Rishabh Pant walked in but endured similar luck, getting clean bowled by Mukesh while attempting a bizarre shot. In the end, LSG finished with 159 for 6 in 20 overs, setting Delhi Capitals a target of 160 runs.

Overall, it was a clinical comeback from the Capitals' bowlers after LSG's openers scored 86 runs in the first 10 overs, with the team managing only 73 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the last 10 overs. Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 4 for 33. Stay tuned for the Delhi Capitals' chase of this tricky total.
