Why Was the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy Not Unveiled During the WTC 2025 Final?
The prestigious Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy was originally scheduled to be unveiled at Lord’s during the WTC Final 2025 by legends Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson. However, in light of the tragic Ahmedabad flight crash that claimed 242 lives, both the ECB and BCCI decided to postpone the unveiling out of respect.
According to Cricbuzz, the event was called off, and officials are now planning to unveil the trophy on another date. An ECB official stated:
"Given the tragic events in India, the announcement may wait a while out of respect for the lives lost," a senior ECB official told Cricbuzz on Saturday. "Both the BCCI and ECB are working together to choose a more appropriate time. The announcement had been kept flexible due to the tragedy," the official added.
