Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday, May 08, have announced Nandre Burger as the replacement player for the injured Sandeep Sharma, who was ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season due to a finger injury. The South African pacer Burger, will again be back for the Royals after playing for them in 2024 season.
Interestingly, the Proteas star himself is back after a long injury lay-off. The 28-year-old had suffered a lumber stress fracture and was out of action for close to nine months. Speaking about the Royals, they are out of contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs, as they have lost nine games from the 12 matches played this season. Currently, they are placed ninth on the points table, with just six points.

They have two more games left to play against the bottom-placed CSK on May 12, and PBKS on May 16. The RR have only pride left to play in the two games, and they would be hoping to end the IPL 2025 on a positive note. Throughout this IPL 2025 season, the Royals have been deserted with luck. First, they lost regular skipper Sanju Samson due to injury, and later they came at the wrong side of the result in four close losses.
Nandre Burger back at Rajasthan Royals
It is to be noted that the left-arm pacer Nandre Burger has played five IPL games for the Royals, picking seven wickets at an average of 20.71. He can swing the ball both ways, and is height and the the bounce that he generates from the left-arm angle is hard to pick for the batters. It remains to be seen if RR play the 28-year-old in the remaining two games that they have in their IPL 2025 season.
