Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), led by Rishabh Pant, found themselves in a precarious situation for making it to the IPL 2025 playoffs. The Super Giants have had an indifferent season and would have liked to play a lot better than they did so far.
So far they have played 10 games in IPL 2025 and have won five and lost five games each. They had a good phase when they won three games on the trot against MI, KKR, and GT.
They have won just two out of their last five games and find themselves on 12 points and just above KKR on sixth on the IPL 2025 points table. They last played against MI on April 27 and lost the match by 54 runs. Their next play is against PBKS on May 4.
Lucknow Super Giants' Performance in IPL 2025 Thus Far
LSG started their IPL 2025 campaign with a narrow 1-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals. Then they won by five wickets against SRH, followed by another loss to Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. They had a phase of three consecutive sins against MI, GT, and KKR. CSK then defeated them by five wickets at the Chepauk. After a 4-run win against KKR before losing to CSK, the Super Giants managed to win another close encounter against Rajasthan Royals by just two runs, thanks to Avesh Khan's heroics with the ball as he defended nine runs off the final over. Since that famous win against RR on April 19, LSG lost to DC by 8 wickets and by 54 runs against MI which has affected their NRR massively.

Amid their up-and-down campaign so far, Rishabh Pant's form with the bat has been a major concern for the franchise. The most expensive player of IPL 2025 has just scored 110 runs in 10 games, including a best of 63 runs against CSK. He has scored four single-digit scores, including two ducks, in the campaign so far. Heading into the last four games, it is imperative for LSG that Pant finds form.
Qualification Scenarios For LSG
As of now, LSG is placed sixth on the IPL 2025 points table. Ideally, they need to win all their remaining four matches to give themselves the best chance of making the playoffs. Winning all four games will take them to 18 points, which should be enough for them to make the knockouts. It is expected that all the teams above LSG can also get to 16 points, and hence getting to 16 points also might not be enough for them to make the playoffs. 16 might give them an outside chance, while 18 points will guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.
