Indian batter Shreyas Iyer has won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for March 2025, a nod to his stellar batting that powered India to Champions Trophy glory.Â
The middle-order batter, known for his composure under pressure, outshone competitors, namely Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy, to claim the prestigious award, cementing his status as one of cricket’s brightest stars.
Iyer was India’s batting backbone in the tournament, piling up 243 runs in five matches across Dubai and Pakistan. He averaged 48.60, with a top score of 79 against New Zealand in the group stage and a hard-fought 48 in the final, steering India to a tense four-wicket win over the Kiwis to lift the trophy. He also smashed a fifty in a winning cause versus Pakistan.

What set Iyer apart was his ability to anchor innings on challenging, spin-friendly pitches. His knack for building partnerships and absorbing pressure proved vital, especially in high-stakes knockout games.Â
In March’s three ODIs, Iyer racked up 172 runs, showing his class against the tight bowling attacks of Australia and New Zealand.

This award marks back-to-back ICC monthly wins for India, following Shubman Gill’s February prize.Â
"I’m truly honored to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month when we lifted the ICC Champions Trophy—a moment I’ll cherish forever," Iyer said as quoted by ICC.Â
"Being able to contribute to India’s success on such a big stage is something every cricketer dreams of. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support and belief," he added.

Iyer’s road to this moment was not easy. After a rough 2024, including losing his BCCI contract, he fought back and led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an IPL title.Â
He has kept that fire burning as Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) captain in IPL 2025, hammering 250 runs in five games with three half-centuries, including a blazing 97 not out against Gujarat Titans (GT).
