Babar Azam in PSL 2025

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 is set to resume on May 17, with the remaining eight matches scheduled and the finals taking place on May 25.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the tournament will pick up from where it left off. He stated,

“HBL PSL X picks up from where it left off. Six teams, zero fear. Get ready for eight thrilling matches starting May 17, leading up to the Grand Final on May 25. Best of luck to all the teams!”

PSL 2025 Resumption Schedule Still Awaited

Details regarding the specific fixtures and whether the matches will be held in Pakistan or another country are still unclear, as Naqvi's announcement did not provide this information. The league was postponed due to tensions at the borders, prompting overseas players to return to their home countries. A meeting regarding the resumption of the league took place on May 12, 2025, leading to the PCB chairman’s confirmation that PSL X will continue.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, the board has met with franchise representatives to discuss potential venue changes and a new schedule. They also assessed the uncertain situation regarding the return of overseas players, as the UAE is unwilling to host the remainder of the matches. The new venue is yet to be confirmed, and an official announcement is expected soon.

IPL 2025 Resumes in Style

Meanwhile, IPL 2025 is also scheduled to resume on May 17, with six venues selected, including Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai. The remaining matches will be played as double-headers. The finals were planned for May 3, 2025, and reports suggest that the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad could be the venue for the big finals, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Though the majority of overseas players have returned to their home countries, teams like the Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans have reportedly begun preparations, as a few of their players remained in India. With the league set to resume soon, the momentum is beginning to build once again.
