Addressing India’s shortcomings, Shami called on the bowling unit to improve ahead of the second Test. He praised Bumrah’s efforts and urged the other pacers to step up and support him.

"In bowling, other Indian bowlers should talk to Bumrah and learn from him. They should plan with him and support him. If they do, winning matches will be easier. Regarding the first match, I think our bowling needs work," Shami said on his YouTube channel.

Shami Flags Krishna and Thakur’s Inconsistency, Urges New Ball Impact

Shami also pointed out the inconsistent performances of Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur, stressing the importance of taking wickets with the new ball.

"Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets each in the second innings, but by then, the match was out of reach. Taking early wickets is crucial. They must support Bumrah. England won because we gave away too many easy runs. We need to strengthen our bowling," he added.

Notably, Shami was not part of India’s touring squad due to fitness issues and was replaced by Arshdeep Singh. The left-arm seamer missed his debut in the first Test but is expected to get an opportunity in the second Test as Bumrah may be rested. Stay tuned for more updates on India’s 2025 England tour.
