India has submitted a bid to host the World Test Championship Final in India, after the first three WTC finals including the upcoming final between Australia and South Africa is hosted by England

India’s bid could significantly impact England’s traditional summer schedule and raise logistical concerns for the ICC, especially amid rising tensions with Pakistan following recent airstrikes in Kashmir.
The previous two WTC finals were both held in England first at the Rose Bowl in 2021, followed by The Oval in 2023. This year’s final, featuring Australia and South Africa, is scheduled at Lord’s next month.
India reportedly expressed its interest during last month’s ICC chief executives’ meeting in Zimbabwe. The BCCI, represented by CEO Arun Singh Dhumal, has strong influence within the ICC, with Jay Shah currently serving as the ICC chairman. With that backing, the bid is likely to be approved.

While the ECB never expected to host the WTC final permanently, England’s summer conditions and reliable ticket sales have made it a default venue. However, India is pushing for a quick resolution, as it would need to make room in the 2027 home schedule to accommodate a potential extra Test if the final is hosted elsewhere.
