The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given a contract extension to the chair of selectors, Ajit Agarkar till June 2026. The Board is mighty impressed with the former fast bowler's work, which began in June 2023. Under the Agarkar-led panel, India went on to win the Champions Trophy 2025 event, and also won the T20 World Cup 2024 event under Rohit Sharma's leadership.
Aside from two victories, India also went on to reach the final of the ODI World Cup 2023, where they had an almost flawless campaign, only to falter at the end against Australia, who clinched their sixth World Cup title. According to an Indian Express report, Agarkar's contract was renewed before the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season.
